Citizenship (N-400): The Final Step to Full Belonging
Welcome— whether you’re taking this important step for yourself, or supporting a family member or friend in our immigrant community, we’ll guide you through the entire naturalization process with compassion and clarity.
From preparing your Form N-400 to helping you with English & civics tutoring, and assisting with medical waiver cases when needed — we’re honored to walk this path with you and committed to helping you take this meaningful step toward U.S. citizenship.
Why Citizenship Matters
Becoming a U.S. citizen opens doors: the right to vote, the ability to run for certain public offices, access to a U.S. passport, and greater security in your legal status. But more than that, it means you belong. Many of us at Amba Law came here as immigrants. We know the journey, the wait, the hope. Your oath is more than a legal milestone — it’s your place in the story of this country.
Eligibility for U.S. Citizenship (N-400)
To apply for U.S. citizenship through naturalization, most applicants must meet the following core requirements:
Lawful permanent residence (green card) for at least 5 years, or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen
Continuous residence in the United States for the required period
Physical presence in the U.S. for at least half of that time
Demonstrated good moral character
Willingness to take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States
Understanding the Process of Form N-400
Eligibility – Most applicants must have held a green card for at least 5 years (or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen).
Complete & File Form N-400 – Gather required documentation: residence history, tax records, proof of good moral character, travel history, etc.
Biometrics Appointment – Attend your fingerprint (and possibly photograph) appointment for security/background checks.
Interview + English/Civics Test – At your interview, you’ll demonstrate your ability to read, write, speak English and pass the civics test (unless you qualify for an exemption).
Decision & Oath Ceremony – If approved, you’ll attend the oath ceremony and become a U.S. citizen.
How We Support You
Personalised legal guidance: We’ll evaluate your unique situation—your green-card history, travel, employment, any prior immigration issues—and plot the best path.
English & civics tutoring: If the English/civics test feels daunting, we help you prepare or connect you to trusted tutors.
Medical waiver & disability accommodations: If you cannot meet the regular test because of a disability or medical condition, we review whether you qualify for an exception and help prepare the documentation.
Document preparation & review: From residence proof, tax records, travel log to “good moral character” review — we check everything so you can focus on what comes next.
Interview & ceremony support: Mock questions, civics review, what to expect — we make sure you’re ready for the final step.
Immigrant-friendly pricing and multilingual assistance: We believe high-quality assistance shouldn’t be out of reach.
Why Not You?
In FY 2024, a staggering 818,500 people—many of whom had lived here 5 years, 10 years, even 20 years—stood at the oath podium and emerged as new U.S. citizens.
With shifting political winds and growing uncertainty around immigration policy, every lawful permanent resident who is eligible to naturalize should ask:
Why wait? Why not you?
What we Offer
1. Leading Counsel with Trial & Corporate Experience
Attorney Yasin G. Amba isn’t just an immigration lawyer — he began his career as a public defender, achieved 10 not-guilty verdicts in jury trials, and secured a dismissal of a murder charge for a young client. Today he applies that trial-court experience to his immigration practice.
He also worked in corporate America, giving him insight into complex systems, professional training, and strategic thinking.
After relocating to San Diego, California in Spring 2022, Attorney Amba consciously chose to dedicate his practice exclusively to immigration law. He knew this was where his talents and passion could make the greatest impact — helping the immigrant community in San Diego. He walks the same path he once traveled, and now uses his legal training and lived experience to guide others like him. That’s what sets this firm apart. Immigration law for us isn’t a side focus — it’s our entire focus, and it’s just the beginning.
2. You’re in the Company of Thousands Who Made It
In Fiscal Year 2024, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services welcomed 818,500 new U.S. citizens through naturalization ceremonies. USCIS+2DocketWise+2
With so many people succeeding last year, the real question isn’t “Can I?” — it’s “Why not me?”
3. We’ve Walked the Path Ourselves
Becoming a U.S. citizen is not a privilege reserved for someone else — it’s something you can achieve.
At Amba Law Immigration Solutions PC, we don’t just guide you through filing the Form N‑400 — we’ve lived the experience. Attorney Amba came to the U.S. as a child and navigated the path toward citizenship himself.
That personal experience gives our team a unique perspective and authentic understanding of the journey.
4. Community Ambassadors Who Walk With You
Beyond attorney counsel, our team includes ambassadors from the same immigrant and naturalizing communities we serve.
They speak your language, understand your culture, know your questions — and are here to help you feel seen, heard, and supported at every step.
We currently have Ambassadors serving the Oromo, Somali, Amharic, Tigrinya, Arabic, Dari, and Masalit-speaking communities — and if you don’t see the language/community you’re looking for, please let us know and we’ll help find a suitable Ambassador for your needs.
5. Accessible, Human-First Service
We built our firm so that recently-naturalized or soon-to-be-naturalizing clients are not lost in a maze of legal jargon or paperwork.
Instead, you’re guided step-by-step through: eligibility requirements, continuous residence, good moral character, travel history, tax compliance.
No surprises. No confusion. Just clear guidance and steady progress.
6. Because You Belong Here — and Citizenship Is Yours
When we say “Why Not You?”, we mean it: you do belong, you are eligible, and with the right support, you can do this.
Let us walk with you through the naturalization process.
The question isn’t “Can I?”, but rather “Why Not Me?”
These are some of our clients among the 818,500 who took the oath and became U.S. citizens in 2024 — each one a reminder that you could be next.
